Frozen Summertime Treats
I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s, and I have such fond memories of enjoying freezer pops during the summer as a young child.
While we were low-income and typically only had the cheapest ones on the market available to us at home, my favorite were the breakaway popsicles with 2 sticks.
When a friend offered me one of those, I was in heaven, you guys!
Of course, all of those ice pops, freezer pops, or popsicles (whatever you like to call them) were filled with processed sugars and food dyes.
Sometimes I seriously look back on my childhood and cringe.
All that said, we live as dye-free a lifestyle as possible, and thankfully, popsicles are a pretty easy one to manage.
While I do sometimes pick up store-bought freezer pops for my 12-year-old, I also like to make yogurt pops or fruit freezies when I can.
Now that we are back in a house again, I’m looking forward to getting creative in the kitchen more often.
From dessert-like pops to fruity delights, check out some of the healthy popsicle recipes I’m looking forward to creating this summer!.

Unique Healthy Popsicle Recipes
If you’re on the lookout for unique ingredients or simply want to sneak beneficial and healthy food options into your child’s frozen treat, these next 4 recipes are for you!
All of these healthy popsicle recipes are fruit and dairy-free options.
First up, these vanilla matcha popsicles – via Birdz of a Feather.
These delicious (and nutritious) looking pops are made with coconut cream, vanilla extract, matcha powder, almond milk, and the secret ingredient of gelatin for a smoother texture!
While most of the healthy popsicle recipes I share in this post are sugar-free, this one does call for the use of Swerve. We once tried this sweetener option in our home, and I was not a fan, so I would likely choose to sweeten it with agave nectar or honey instead.
Man, oh man, do these next pops look good! These blue coconut popsicles, via Cook Me Free, are sure to look appealing to any kiddo!
Sadly, kids are attracted to brightly colored foods (not that I’m against naturally brightly colored foods like this one) and are more likely to a) try them to begin with and b) like them if they are colored.
All that said, these bad boys are made with amazing ingredients such as coconut yogurt, milk, or water (the choice is yours), some optional maple syrup for sweetening, and spirulina for coloring. Spirulina is a superfood that is high in nutrients and antioxidants, making this popsicle a true winner, you guys!
Not going to lie, you guys.
This next one might just be the one I’m looking most forward to trying.
These cinnamon and honey kiefer popsicles – via Keep Calm and Eat Icecream sound so stinking good!
We actually make homemade ice cream fairly regularly in our home, and my favorite ice cream flavor to make is cinnamon and honey, so naturally, these puppies are right up my alley!
The best part? This recipe literally only calls for what’s in the name — cinnamon, honey, and kiefer.
Talk about YUM!
Lastly, these Indian spiced popsicles – via Cookilicous sound incredible, you guys!
I’ve never heard of a popsicle that calls for seasoning and chilies, but I’m incredibly intrigued and definitely open to trying this one!
These green ice pops call for Greek yogurt, water, cilantro, mint, green chilies, asafoetida, cumin powder, chaat masala, grated ginger, and black salt.

Healthy Chocolate Popsicles
Hands up if you’re a chocolate lover, like me!
These are the frozen pops for you.
Growing up, my late dad was a lover of mint chocolate chip ice cream, so naturally it was my favorite as a kid!
Now, my daughter is a huge fan of all things mint chocolate chip, and I can’t wait to make this healthy option for her.
These mint chocolate chip popsicles – via The All Natural Vegan are made with health-conscious ingredients like raw cashews, dates, coconut milk, peppermint extract, matcha, plant-based chocolate chips, and cacao nibs.
Since I tend to cook with essential oils often, I would likely use peppermint oil in place of extract, but that is simply because it’s what I have on hand.
Either way, this one sounds so yummy!
If you haven’t tried avocado ice cream yet, you are totally missing out! It’s definitely one of my faves.
These avocado fudgesicles via – In the Kid’s Kitchen sound like a winner for sure, you guys!
This recipe calls for avocados, cashew milk, vanilla bean paste, unsweetened cocoa powder, and maple syrup.
Not only is this a healthy option, but it also sounds like a heavenly one!
Ok, talk about genius!
These cottage cheese fudgesicles via – Cottage Cheese Recipes are made using cottage cheese, unsweetened cocoa powder, maple syrup, arrowroot powder, vanilla, and salt.
The cottage cheese not only creates a wonderful texture but also sneaks in some extra protein. I’m definitely looking forward to my daughter trying this one!
Last, but certainly not least for our chocolate variety, are these peanut butter banana popsicles via Chelsea Joy Eats.
I will always be a huge lover of all things chocolate + peanut butter.
These bad boys include the option for dipping in chocolate (yes, please), which is why I included them here.
Plus, they sound so freaking good!
You can make these healthy popsicles using peanut butter, coconut milk, bananas, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and coconut oil for dipping.
What a yummy treat!

Healthy Cheesecake Popsicles
Ok, so technically these next 2 recipes include fruit, but I still chose to separate them from the other fruit pops for one reason.
They are simply cheesecake-esque, you guys!
These lemon cheesecake popsicles via A Virtual Vegan look delightful, you guys!
They are made using chopped pecans, dates, lemon juice, coconut milk, chickpeas, frozen mango, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and sea salt.
So many health-conscious ingredients are mixed into this dessert-like frozen treat!
Want to take your cheesecake experience up a notch?
Try these lemon blueberry cheesecake popsicles (no photo) – via Tasy Cue.
These bad boys are made with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese, honey (or maple syrup), lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and your milk of choice.
This protein-packed healthy popsicle recipe also includes a secondary recipe of blueberries (fresh or frozen), maple syrup, lemon juice, and the optional corn starch (for thickening) to create the yummy blueberry swirl.
Both of these sound so yummy, you guys!
Healthy Fruit Popsicle Recipes
Ok, guys, this is where it’s at!
Fruit ice pops were made for summertime, and they are the perfect healthy option for keeping kiddos cool on hot days.
