Pumpkins + Soup Season

I enjoy my soup much like I enjoy my pumpkins, all year long.

However, I know for many, soups and pumpkins are generally only enjoyed for a season, and fall is that season!

So, if you like pumpkins and you like soup, this post (which represents a collection of 2 of my favorite things mashed together) is the one for you!

Pumpkin Soup 8 Ways

Ok, so I’ve got to be honest here, as much as I love pumpkin flavors and enjoy cooking up soup all year long, I’ve never actually combined the two.

It’s true, you guys, I have never made pumpkin soup!

That said, I’m actually really excited to expand my soup-making abilities this year and lean on some of these pumpkin variations.

While there are tons of options out there for making pumpkin soup, this list is a simple one that covers a few different dietary needs and modifications.

Check out these 8 different ways to make pumpkin soup!

  • Simple Pumpkin Soup

Simple, now that is my kind of meal.

While I’m a huge soup lover, and I can whip one up without a recipe any night of the week, I’m all about trying new, simple recipes any chance I get.

So, needless to say, this simple pumpkin soup – via Christina’s Cucina sounds like a great place to start!

This recipe only calls for a few simple ingredients: pumpkin, potatoes, olive oil, onion, vegetable stock, milk, cream, salt, and pepper.

Not only does this one sound simple and healthy, but it’s also just a touch unique with the added potatoes!

  • Creamy Pumpkin Soup

Who doesn’t love a creamy soup?

To be completely honest, creamy soups are my absolute favorite kind!

This creamy pumpkin soup – via Style and Grace includes a few more ingredients and sounds completely amazing!

You can create this delicious concoction using olive oil, butter, leek, celery, carrots, salt and pepper, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cinnamon, tomato paste, pumpkin, chicken broth, evaporated milk, orange juice, honey, Greek yogurt, sriracha, and pumpkin seeds for garnish!

While the ingredients list is a bit longer, it’s also unique (hello, orange juice and honey!) and very health-conscious!

  • Vegan Pumpkin Soup

While we are huge dairy (and some of us meat) lovers, my daughter was temporarily on a very strict (doctor-ordered) diet over the summer, so I can always appreciate these types of recipes!

If vegan is what you need, this vegan curry pumpkin soup – via Strength and Sunshine is similar to the creamy recipe but completely vegan!

This recipe is made using pumpkin, olive oil, unsweetened coconut milk, ground cumin, ground ginger, curry powder, salt and pepper, orange bell pepper, Vidalia onion, minced garlic, vegetable broth, and scallions for topping!

This sounds like a wonderful allergy-friendly option for fall!

  • Coconut Pumpkin Soup

While many of these pumpkin recipes include similar ingredients, they all vary from each other in other ways.

Technically, many of the recipes mentioned are made using coconut milk, but this particular recipe is the only one that includes the combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and added brown sugar — making it a sweeter option.

This coconut pumpkin soup – via The Sassy Foodie does feature added sugar (which I typically don’t love, especially in dinner recipes) it sounds so good due to the combination of fall flavors.

You can make this soup using pumpkin puree, curry powder, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, chicken broth, coconut milk, brown sugar, honey, and sea salt.

All that said, I’m actually ok with adding this soup to the list because, as long as the sugar is a small amount and organic, I see no issue if done in moderation.

  • Pumpkin Sweet Potato Soup

Ok, so I have to be honest, I’m not a sweet potato girl.

I don’t serve them at my Thanksgiving table, and I always skip adding them to my plate when I’m at a dinner where they are served.

Sorry, not sorry.

That said, I’m all for branching out and trying new things, and who knows, maybe adding it to soup won’t be so bad.

Either way, I chose to add this one to the list simply because it’s incredibly healthy and a great option for those who do love a little sweet potato on their table!

This sweet potato pumpkin soup – via The Fast Recipe is made with pumpkin, sweet potatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, olive oil, cumin, nutmeg, salt and pepper, vegetable broth, coconut milk, and lemon juice.

There are so many healthy ingredients on this list, you guys, making this a very health-conscious fall meal idea!

Plus, the unique additions of coriander, red chili flakes, soy sauce, pumpkin seeds, parsley, or cilantro for plating make this a customizable pumpkin soup recipe perfect for any palate!

  • Pumpkin Apple Soup

Um, yes, please!

First, I just have to say I have never thought of adding apple to a soup recipe.

Second, I cannot wait to try this one!

If the combination of apples and pumpkins is your thing (like it is mine), you need to try this roasted pumpkin apple soup – via Flavor the Moments.

You can throw this one together using pumpkin, Granny Smith apples, olive oil, onion, carrot, garlic, fresh sage, ground ginger, vegetable stock, coconut milk, and, of course, the optional roasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds) for garnish!

Talk about yum in a bowl!

  • Slow Cooker Pumpkin Soup

This next pumpkin soup recipe made the list for one simple reason: it’s a super-easy option for busy weeknights.

I’m a huge fan of slow cooker meals, and this one sounds pretty simple.

This slow cooker pumpkin soup – via The Lazy Slow Cooker calls for 1/4 cup of brown sugar (a little too much in my book), making it a less healthy option, but it’s a simple option that could easily be modified if need be.

You can create this sweet pumpkin soup recipe using pumpkin puree, brown sugar, onion, garlic, ginger, cumin, turmeric, vegetable broth, salt and pepper, and half and half (or coconut cream).

  • Moroccan Pumpkin Soup

This last one is definitely the most unique on the list, you guys!

I’ve never even heard of Moroccan pumpkin soup before, but I can’t wait to try it.

This Moroccan pumpkin soup – via Candy Floss Life sounds incredible!
