The Catch of the Day

Our family just recently moved into a house after full-time RV living for over 3 years!

It has been an exciting (and stressful) process, but it was definitely time for us to put down some roots.

All that said, this new house I’m speaking of just so happens to be on the lake, you guys!

Fishing on the Lake

Father and child fishing in a red boat

While we have technically been in our home for over 6 months now, we still have not taken the time to go fishing!

Since we are still settling in (mostly due to the many projects we are working on), fishing may not happen this summer, but I have high hopes that lots of fishing will be in our future.

I have so many fond memories of fishing with my late dad as a young girl, and I look forward to creating some similar memories with my kiddos as we grill up the catch of the day!

Healthy Grilled Fish Recipes

Fish is generally thought of as a healthy food.

Many types of fish are high in omega-3s, such as salmon, and include a wide variety of other health benefits.

That said, we have been trying to incorporate healthy fish recipes and seafood recipes into our diet on a more regular basis, and I’ve thoroughly been enjoying it, you guys!

Grilled seafood fillet on grill grate

While my 12-year-old daughter may not be a huge fan, we eat seafood at least once a week.

However, we tend to keep things inside and cook on the stovetop or in the oven.

So, naturally, I’m pretty excited to take things outside and cook up some of our fish on the grill this summer!

These 4 grilled fish recipes are the ones I’m most looking forward to trying, you guys!

  • Grilled Sea Bass

While we typically cook cod or salmon in our home, I’m really looking forward to expanding that list over the summer months.

2 whole grilled sea bas

This grilled sea bass recipe – via Chef’s Pencil, is one I’d love to tackle.

Using simple pantry and fridge staples such as mustard, olive oil, lemon, and a variety of other herbs, this recipe is both health-conscious and simple!

All that said, you can make it even simpler by purchasing fish filets if the whole fish concept makes you a little squeamish.

Not going to lie, you guys, I kind of love the idea of catching, filleting, and cooking my dinner.

  • Grilled Cod

Cod is the main type of fish we cook in our home, and I absolutely love eating it, you guys!

I’ve cooked it many ways, but I have never grilled it.

Grilled cod fillet

That is why I am so excited to try this incredibly simple grilled cod recipe – via Corrie Cooks.

Pretty sure this will recipe will be the first one I attempt on the grill this summer becasue a) as I stated above, I love cod and b) it sounds so freaking easy!

Bonus: This recipe only calls for a handful of staple items such as olive oil, herbs, and garlic — YUM!

I totally featured this recipe in my main list of healthy grilled recipes for summer, too!

  • Grilled Mackerel

So, I actually love eating mackerel quite often as well!

However, I tend to eat this one straight out of the can with a little mayonnaise.

I’ve never cooked it, let alone grilled it.

Grilled mackerel seafood kabobs with herbs

I am seriously looking forward to trying these grilled mackerel kabobs – via Somebody Feed Seb, you guys!

Not only does this recipe include a lot of fresh and unique ingredients, such as coriander, white wine vinegar, and radishes, but it’s a freaking kabob!

Who doesn’t love a grilled kabob in the summertime?

Plus, the infusion of these flavors sounds simply incredible!

  • Grilled Red Snapper

Red snapper is the one fish on this list that I’ve never actually tried before.

That said, I’d love to give it a try this summer if I can.

Grilled fish topped lemon and peppers

This grilled red snapper recipe – via Corrie Cooks calls for whole fish, but I would imagine you could just do filets if food with eyes isn’t your style.

Either way, this recipe sounds amazing, you guys!

It calls for simple ingredients such as garlic and lemon, which, in my humble opinion, is always a great option for any fish dish!

Other Grilled Seafood Recipes

While I’m a big fan of fish, I’m also a lover of all seafood.

We cook scallops up in our home multiple times a month and shrimp fairly often as well.

However, I also love to eat crab cakes, sushi, muscles, and anything else I can get my hands on — I just don’t typically cook those up on my own.

Grilled seafood and whole shrimp

All that said, I’m looking forward to expanding our grilling skills beyond burgers, steaks, chicken, and now grilled fish.

I’m also looking forward to tossing shrimp and scallops on the grill.

Check out these next 2 grilled seafood recipes, you guys!

  • Grilled Shrimp

Ok, so I’m going to be honest with you for just a second.

I have, in fact, placed shrimp on a skewer and tossed them on the grill before.

However, it was many, many years ago, and it didn’t look nearly as good as this recipe I’m about to share with you!

Grilled shrimp seafood kabobs with herbs

This Mexican grilled shrimp – via Three Olives Branch, sounds like a pure winner, you guys!

Not only is it labeled as gluten-free, dairy-free, and low carb, but it sounds simply delicious!

Plus, it includes traditional Mexican flavors such as lime, cumin, and cilantro, making this the perfect companion to your next family taco night!

  • Grilled Scallops

Last, but certainly not least, grilled scallops.

Insert drooling emoji here.

I’m pretty sure I could eat scallops every day and not get tired of them, you guys!

They are hands-down my favorite!

3 seafood scallops on a leaf

This grilled scallops – via Corrie Cooks, will be happening in my near future, you guys!

It sounds like a ridiculously easy entree to make and would pair well with any number of grilled vegetables.

Plus, this recipe calls for lemon, which is the only way I cook my scallops.

So, looking forward to this one!
