Fall is in the Air

While the outside temperatures here in Montana (it’s a blustering 39 degrees today) might be trying to trick me into believing that we skipped right over fall and are hanging out in mid-winter, I know the truth.

Fall temps might not be in our mountain air, but the fall scents sure are.

To those who follow my posts regularly (whether here on Healthy Farmhouse or over on Life + Homeschool), you already know I’m a little fall obsessed.

However, for those who don’t — I’m totally fall obsessed, you guys!!

I absolutely love this time of year.

From the pumpkin desserts to the cozy sweaters and the autumn decor, fall is, has been, and always will be, my favorite season.

Fall Diffuser Recipes

Our family has been using essential oils for roughly 10 years now, and I have come to love experimenting with different scent blends.

Especially around the holidays.

Fall essential oil bottles - Clove, nutmeg, orange, vanilla, Thieves, cinnamon bark

That said, the fall diffuser blends you find in this post were created by yours truly.

I spent a number of days playing around with different oil combinations, and these were my absolute favorite concoctions, you guys!

So, if you’re on the lookout for new fall diffuser recipes (which, I’m guessing you are since you’re reading this post!), you won’t want to miss my top picks for the season!

Favorite Fall Diffuser Blends

Ok, before we dive into my favorite fall diffuser recipes, I need you to know a couple of things.

First, I’ve only got 5 blends to share with you this year, and second, technically, only 4 of them are original recipes created by me because 1 is a purchasable blend that I also really love.

That said, they have all been tested and used over and over again in my home this fall season alone.

Check out my top fall diffuser blend picks and feel free to change them up by experimenting a little on your own!

  • Hello Fall

Nothing says hello fall quite like orange and cloves.

Mix those 2 scents with a touch of vanilla, and you’ve got a sure winner!

*Things to know: I consider this fall essential oil recipe an everyday oil blend, making it perfect for daily use.

Also, while I generally have clove oil on hand, I recently ran out and actually tested this (and all the other recipes that call for clove) with Thieves essential oil instead, and they turned out great! Which is why I listed both oils as an option. Feel free to diffuse this oil recipe both ways to find your preferred blend!

This first diffuser recipe has a very fresh and mild scent.

If you have members of the family who struggle with strong scents in the house, this is a great option for them!

This mixture is clean and refreshing without that punch in the face feeling.

I consider this one a great starter oil blend for fall — hence the name, hello fall.

I will definitely be returning to this one over and over again!

  • Pumpkin Spice

This is it, you guys, the 1 blend on this list that I didn’t create.

That said, it’s so good that I just had to mention it!

Simplified by Jacob + Kait’s warm pumpkin spice oil is one of my favorite oil combinations to use during the fall season.

I simply place a few drops in my diffuser, turn it on, and my house smells incredible for hours!

There’s no getting out 3-5 different oils or playing around to find that perfect mix.

I swear, this oil just gets me, you guys!!

*Things to know: This is a stronger blend and not necessarily a great option for everyday use (unless possibly you only use a single drop or maybe 2).

1 bottle makes it an easy option for quick scent fixes (like when company decides to drop by unannounced)!

Also, this is a great blend to use when airing out the house. Simply pick a warmer day to have the windows open and put 3-5 drops in your diffuser. You’d be surprised what a little fresh air + fall scent can do!

This fall oil blend is ideal for making your home smell great before guests arrive or for giving your home a boost of fall scents when the air gets stale or stinky.

I actually just used this little miracle worker a few days ago when my in-laws arrived from out of town.

It was the first time they were seeing our new house since we moved (nearly 10 months ago), and I was ironically in the middle of baking a fresh pumpkin anyway.

So, I put 2 drops each into 2 different diffusers, and the house was officially welcoming and warm for their arrival.

Mixed with the fresh pumpkin smells coming from the oven, it was like the most perfect cozy fall Saturday ever!

All that said, I tend to get heavy on the droppage, and my oldest son isn’t the biggest fan of this one.

It is on the stronger side, and he gets headaches fairly often.

I can’t say for sure if he has ever had a headache specifically due to this oil, but I can’t rule it out either, since I haven’t exactly tested it.

So, needless to say, if you have scent-sensitive family members, you may want to skip this one!

Tasty Fall Diffusers Blends

While fall-welcoming scents are a great start, sometimes what you really need to bring the fall vibes is the smell of fresh baked goods.

These are my tasty diffuser recipes, you guys!

  • Fall Vibes

First, up we have the mixture that I like to call fall vibes.

If you want something that just feels like home, this is the one, you guys!

*Things to know: This blend feels cozy and warm, making it ideal for long rainy days or simple evenings on the couch with a fire in the fireplace.

While it’s not overly strong and can be used daily, I prefer to lean on it occasionally when I need a little extra comfort or simply want to cozy up on the couch.

Brown box with leaves + Text: Fall Vibes diffuser blend - 2 drops vanilla, 2 drops cinnamon, 2 drops nutmeg, 1 drop ginger, 1 drop clove

The mixture of vanilla, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger creates a uniquely light scent that is perfect for the fall season.

This once totally gives me all the fall vibes, and as strange as it sounds, it just feels like home.

  • Autumn Spice

The combination of orange and cloves is somewhat nostalgic to me.

I remember as a child, my mom would poke full cloves into the outside peel of a fresh orange to create a welcoming aroma, and I just love the combination, you guys!

Add a little cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom to that, and you’ve truly got the perfect Autumn spice mixture.

*Things to know: Since this mixture is a little more on the strong side, I consider it to be an occasional or weekend blend.

While the main mixture is awesome by itself, I also like this combination with an additional drop of frankincense from time to time!

Try it both ways to see which you like better!

Brown box with leaves + Text: Autumn Spice diffuser blend - 2 drops cinnamon, 1 drop clove, 1 drop orange, 1 drop ginger, 1 drop cardamom, 1 drop vanilla

I decided to call this one Autumn spice instead of pumpkin spice for 2 reasons — 1) pumpkin spice was taken by the lovely premade oil mixture I mentioned earlier in this post, and 2) this mixture simply didn’t have the pumpkin vibe. I consider it more of a cinnamony goodness.

This is a bit of a stronger scent than fall vibes, but it is still a warm, comforting (and flavorful) scent.

Autumn vibes totally feels (and smells) like tasty cinnamon rolls or a cinnamon latte on a Saturday morning, you guys!

Talk about uh-mazing!!

  • Baked Fall

Last, but certainly not least, we have what I like to call baked fall.

*Things to know: This oil blend is perfect for diffusing during holiday meals and parties or while baking, but can be used every day as well!

This mixture truly is wonderful for complementing other fall flavors and scents in your home, filling your guests with the welcoming scent of fresh-baked goods, and I definitely prefer to lean on it occasionally rather than every day.

While the base oil mixture of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and orange is good on its own, I truly feel like adding 1 drop of Christmas Spirit is what throws this one over the top!

Brown box with leaves + Text: Baked Fall diffuser blend - 2 drops cinnamon, 2 drops nutmeg, 2 drops orange, 1 drop ginger

I really love this one!

The combination of nutmeg and orange sets this scent apart from all the others on the list.

Adding orange gives it more of a cozy, warm vibe over fresh, and once Christmas spirit is added, it’s like an explosion of YUM — instantly filling your home with the aroma of fresh baked goods!

I diffused this mixture with and without Christmas spirit to see which I liked better because I’m all about playing around with oils to find that perfect mixture, you guys!

While adding 1 drop of Christmas spirit is my perfect mix, you might find you like it better without!

Either way, this is one of my absolute favorites for the fall season!

Outdoorsy Fall Diffuser Blends

There is just nothing quite like a walk in the forest, a bonfire with family and friends, or the crisp leaves on the ground, you guys!

That said, I don’t have a fun list of outdoorsy fall diffuser recipes for you just yet.

Brown leaves with dew drops

Unfortunately, I couldn’t test out all the popular fall oils, such as sandalwood, because I didn’t have them on hand.

So, needless to say, I will be adding these fall diffuser recipes next year!

Be on the lookout for that update fall 2026 (right here in this post), you guys!!
