I love leaning on fall vegetables, such as pumpkins and other gourds, this time of year.

That said, I’ve recently begun to expand my fall menu options and have been enjoying trying out new dinner and soup recipes.

Now, it’s officially time to tackle new fall side dishes!

Butternut squash has always been a staple fall ingredient in our home!

I recently made some epic butternut squash soup, and tend to bake this awesome gourd up on the regular this time of year.

That said, I’m always on the lookout for new ways to cook up our favorites.

Check out some of the new butternut squash side dish recipes I can’t wait to try this season!

  • Sweet Butternut Squash Side Dishes

Not going to lie, I’m partial to a sweeter version of butternut squash.

While savory can be incredible, butternut squash, sugar, and cinnamon just go together, you guys!

This cinnamon butternut squash – via Chew Out Loud looks incredible and sounds super easy, you guys!

You can cook this one up using only a handful of ingredients — butternut squash, olive oil, maple syrup, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, kosher salt, and fresh ground pepper.

This sweet variation is a great option for your Thanksgiving table and could easily double as a healthier dessert option.

While sweet may be my first go-to, I’m all about learning to try and love new things, and these savory options sound incredible, you guys!

First on the list is this healthy pesto butternut squash – via Lemons n Lyme.

You can create this health-conscious dish in your own kitchen using butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, salt, fresh basil, and garlic-infused olive oil (or fresh garlic cloves).

Easy, peasy!

Next up, we have this sage-roasted butternut squash – also via Lemons n Lyme.

While I am a pretty big fan of pesto, this one definitely tops my list of dishes to try!

Using only butternut squash, chickpeas, olive oil, fresh sage, salt, and dried cranberries, you can easily throw this one together in no time.

I absolutely love fall recipes that call for the mixture of sage + cranberries, and I feel they complement that iconic turkey dinner so well, you guys!

The 3rd must-try recipe on our list is this simple sauteed butternut squash – via Eat Fresh Glow.

Using olive oil, butternut squash, garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, maple syrup (optional), and fresh thyme leaves, you can cook this up in no time, making it a perfect weeknight side dish for fall!

For our final savory side, we have this unique hasselback butternut squash – via Blend with Spices.

Not only does this one sound pretty good, but it also looks incredible on a plate, you guys!
