Happy New Year
January can be a time of excitement and hope for the upcoming year.
Sometimes we find ourselves leaving a bad year behind, and other times we hope to continue the good trend that the prior year had to offer.
The new year also tends to be the standard time to make new promises to ourselves by setting unrealistic expectations and starting resolutions we may or may not be able to keep.
All that said, I want to do something different and unexpected this year.

While yes, I want to commit to working out more regularly in 2026, I don’t want to set myself up for failure by starting something big on January 1st that will fizzle out within a few hard weeks.
After a very difficult year of loss, mishaps, injuries, financial strain, and hardship after hardship, I have decided that I am only going to focus on making progress this year.
I adopted the phrase progress over perfection many years ago, and this year I’m going to live it fully.
This year, I will not be making a resolution to work out every day or lose the 15 pounds I need to lose; instead, I’m making a promise to myself that I will do better than last year, and that’s it.
Setting New Health Goals
Setting new goals can be overwhelming, and if you’re a perfectionist like me, you can easily form the habit of setting goals that simply aren’t reachable.
While I do want to get more serious about my water intake, become consistent with my vitamins and supplements, eat even healthier, and work out on the regular, I know life will inevitably throw me some curveballs.
So, I have decided that all of my health goals (or resolutions) will be light and reachable this year.

My main goals? Do better, have grace with myself, look at each day as a fresh start, and end 2026 with healthier habits.
This year, I’m going to make my physical health even more of a priority than I did last year.
However, I’m also going to allow myself grace and the opportunity to take off whenever my mental health needs it.
There will be no ‘workout every day goal’ and feeling like a total failure when I slipup.
All that said, I’ve already started on upping my health game.
In mid-December, I began making better choices and fitting new habits into my routine. Why mid-December? Simply because waiting till January 1st is a sure sign I will fail.
Don’t fall for the starting at the first of the year or I will start next week trap.
Start now!

My first major health change was using our waver plate again.
It had been months since I had used it, and I always felt better when it was a part of my routine.
So, mid-December I jumped on, and I’ve used it every day since.
This one was actually really easy to keep because I attached it to another habit I’ve already formed (this is seriously the best way to form new habits, you guys).
I decided to use the waver plate while drinking my morning coffee and listening to the Bible.
Soon, I plan to add light workouts back in, and I’ve decided to do that with 30-day workout challenges!
So, needless to say, this post is just as much for me as it is for all of you!
The 30 Day Workout Challenge
While 30-day workout challenges are great, many of the ones I have encountered online before (and used in my youth) are exactly what they say they are — a challenge.
That said, I know not everyone is up for the same level of challenge, and if I’m being honest, I need a less challenging challenge this year, you guys!

2025 hit me like a ton of bricks.
I spiralled into a pretty deep depression last winter after the loss of my dad, and getting back on my feet has been hard.
That depression was followed by a plethora of other hardships.
We had no running water for 2 months, dealt with a bat problem all spring and summer, and encountered a lot of financial strain.
Then I had a couple of minor injuries that left me couch-bound (and weight-gaining).
So, needless to say, I need to start simple; otherwise, I will surely fail.
Monthly 30 Day Workout Challenges
If 30-day workout challenges are what you are looking for, I’ve got you.
When I first started this journey, I knew I wanted to have a new challenge to focus on every month (or every 30ish days).
However, it’s already mid-January, and you’re probably wondering where that first challenge is.
I’ve chosen to use January as a habit-building month, and I encourage you to do the same!

Instead of starting a challenge, focus on forming better health habits and leaving room to add challenges in.
All that said, I will be releasing a new challenge starting in February 2026 and ending in January 2027.
I hope you can stick with me and make good habits, while challenging yourself to do better!
Check back next month for our first challenge!
30 Day Workout Challenge Variations
While creating a new challenge each month was my main goal, creating a variation of challenge difficulties was also incredibly important to me!
I decided to make 3 versions of each 30-day workout challenge simply because I know where I’m currently at (needing something easier/more moderate), and I know some of you are likely right there with me.

However, I want to leave the door wide open for me to up my game and move over to harder challenges as the year progresses!
Plus, I truly think a challenge like this will be beneficial to people in all walks of life!
So, stick with me, pick your challenge level, and make some much-needed progress!
I encourage you to bookmark this page to give you easy access to all of our challenges as they become available.
