Healthy Grilled Chicken

In general, Chicken meat is a very healthy option for most people.

Not only is it low in fat (and calories), but it is high in protein and contains all 9 of those super important amino acids!

Healthy Grilled Chicken Breast

Plus, you can use it to create almost any type of dish, making it extremely versatile.

From chicken soups to chicken burgers.

That said, I’m all about the healthy grilled chicken options today, you guys!

Since I’m on the search for as many healthy grilling recipes as I can find this summer, finding some awesome grilled chicken recipes to lean on was a must.

Healthy Grilled Chicken Recipes

While I tend to stick to chicken legs for the grill (simply because they are easy), I’m pretty excited to mix it up this year!

Up until now, my version of grilling chicken has been experimental at best.

Grilled chicken breasts with rosemary sprigs, a spoonful of peppercorns, and the word delish!

When making chicken marinade, I tend to use whatever I have in the kitchen at that moment and seldom write it down, which means I can rarely recreate it.

This drives my family nuts, you guys!

So, this summer, I’m all about trying out actual recipes to find a few more staple dinner ideas.

That said, we recently started cooking leaner, healthier burgers by using ground turkey and chicken and it has been so good!

Now, I’m ready to move beyond burgers and master the chicken kabob and chicken breasts.

Easy Grilled Chicken Kabob Recipes

I’ve always loved a good kabob, but I definitely don’t make them nearly enough!

I’m pretty sure it’s been at least 10 years since I tossed a skewer of meat and veggies on the grill, and I have no idea why, you guys!

Chicken kabobs on a plate with dipping sauces.

Skewers (or kabobs, whichever title you prefer) make such an easy dinner idea, and the cleanup is almost non-existent.

Plus, they can be an entree or a side dish, making them incredibly versatile.

Simply pair a chicken kabob with some delicious pasta salad — making it an incredibly easy entree.

Or, pair it with some nutritious grilled seafood as a bonus protein-filled side dish!

  • Teriyaki Chicken Skewers

First up on our chicken kabob list, these teriyaki Chicken Skewers – via Fit as a Mama Bear.

This recipe sounds so incredibly simple, as it only uses a handful of ingredients!

Plus, it’s a great gluten-free option for those with special dietary needs.

I’ve been gluten-free for over 2 years now, and my daughter just recently joined the GF crew, so I definitely enjoy finding new gluten-free options!

Another bonus? This recipe was curated by a certified nutritional coach! It seriously doesn’t get any healthier than that, you guys!

  • Mediterranean Chicken Kabobs

Next up, we have these grilled Mediterranean chicken kabobs –  via Athlete Lunchbox.

While classic teriyaki chicken is a great go-to for beginner kabobs, this Mediterranean one sounds oh, so, amazing, you guys!

The Mediterranean diet began to gain popularity in the 1960s, but has since exploded and can benefit our health in so many ways.

That’s why I’m super excited for this one!

Not only does this recipe include the not-so-commonly-used eggplant, it also includes staple ingredients most people keep in their kitchen.

My favorite thing about this recipe? It uses chicken thighs instead of the traditional chicken breasts that are commonly used for kabobs.

Plus, this recipe includes reheating and freezing instructions!

  • Herbed Chicken Skewers

Finally, these herbed chicken skewers – via The Spice Adventure.

These skewers are made with a chimichurri-type marinade that I can hardly wait to try, you guys!

This grilled chicken dish definitely sounds unique with its mix of herbs and chilies — from the coriander to the ginger.

It’s recommended for this recipe to be paired with pita bread and hummus, talk about yum!!

Grilled Chicken Breast Recipes

While kabobs are perfect for the grill, chicken breasts are another great option for adding this lean meat to your summer grilling lineup.

That said, I rarely use chicken breasts in my cooking.

Open notebook with words 'Grilled Chicken Recipes', spoons, and veggies.

I’m a huge lover of bone-in chicken thighs and use this cut of meat for nearly every chicken recipe in my home.

However, I have recently begun to experiment with chicken breasts on the grill, and my first attempt turned out pretty darn great, you guys!

Now, I think I’m ready to dive even deeper and give these next 5 recipes a try!

  • Balsamic Chicken

Grilled Balsamic Chicken

This grilled balsamic chicken – via Begin with Balance, sounds so delicious, you guys!

Not only is it a gluten-free and dairy-free option, both huge pluses in my book, but it also uses some of my favorite ingredients!

From the Dijon mustard to the fresh basil and the dried oregano.

Plus, this recipe includes many other health-conscious ingredients such as honey, lemon, garlic, and olive oil!

While it does not include tomatoes on the ingredients list, it is suggested that this yummy-sounding dish be served with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and a light balsamic drizzle — yum!

  • Rosemary Chicken

Grilled chicken breasts on a plate with rosemary sprig and lemon wedges

This grilled rosemary chicken – via Kitchen Savories, sounds like a simple, yet flavorful, recipe!

Calling for only a handful of pantry staples such as lemon, rosemary, and garlic makes this recipe an easy weeknight go-to.

While the ingredients may be considered simple, the recipe itself is known for its versatility as it can easily be created using chicken thighs (my fav) instead of breasts and can be made with either fresh or dried rosemary.

Plus, the depth of flavor, quickness, and health-conscious ingredients all make this one a true winner, you guys!

While this one is technically grilled inside on a cast iron skillet, it can easily be transitioned to the grill for a lean summer meal.

  • Lemon Pepper Chicken

Grilled chicken breasts cut into strips on a plate with greens and lemon slices.

This grilled lemon pepper chicken– via Make it Skinny Please, is also featured in my list of top grilling recipes for the summer!

I’m a huge, huge lemon pepper fan when it comes to cooking fish or chicken, you guys!

So naturally, this one is right up my alley.

Aside from the obvious lemon and pepper in the name, this recipe includes amazing ingredients such as rosemary, thyme, and olive oil!

This recipe is gluten-free, which I’m always a fan of, and it’s super quick (cooking in 4 minutes or less)!

Definitely looking forward to trying this one.

  • Cilantro Lime Chicken

Grilled chicken with avocado and cilantro topping

If Mexican is your food style of choice, this cilantro lime chicken – via The Cookin’ Chicks, is the one for you!

The combination of lime juice, avocados, and cilantro gives this one a Mexican flair you won’t soon forget, you guys!

This is another great grilled chicken recipe that can easily be cooked inside or taken out to the grill.

Plus, it is labeled as low-carb and keto-friendly!

While not technically listed as gluten-free, I don’t personally see any ingredients of concern for those with a gluten intolerance (unless of course, your spices of choice include gluten, because yes, gluten is hidden in many spices, believe it or not!)

All that said, with its Mexican marinade and avocado topping, this recipe looks like a sure winner for summertime!

  • Greek Chicken

Lastly, this greek chicken – via The Forked Spoon, looks like one of the simplest recipes of all!

This grilled chicken recipe features an easy (and kid-friendly) marinade recipe that only needs to sit for 30 minutes!

It uses staple ingredients such as herbs and olive oil and can easily be paired with a number of grilled veggies or traditional summer sides.

Plus, it has additional baking instructions for those days when an unexpected storm hits, and if you find yourself unable to get the grill going.

Healthy Grilling Tips

Since grilling is not technically the cleanest way of cooking, I encourage you to check out some of the healthy grilling tips I will be leaning on this summer!

From choosing healthier protein choices to skipping the aluminum foil.

All that said, grilling is one of our absolute favorite ways to cook in the summertime.
